About the Role
As a Project Engineer – Critical Sewers, you will be instrumental in managing wastewater infrastructure projects, with a focus on sewer renewals and upgrades. These works may include gravity sewers, sewer access chambers, and wet weather surcharge prevention projects, delivered using both traditional excavation and trenchless technologies.
Your role includes managing resources, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects meet time, cost, and quality standards while adhering to safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project delivery for sewer-related infrastructure across the southern region.
- Implement project plans, daily schedules, and long-term programs for construction teams.
- Track project progress, manage budgets, and monitor claims and invoicing.
- Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, standards, and safety protocols.
- Work closely with subcontractors and consultants to award and manage procurement packages.
- Supervise incoming materials and equipment, matching them to design requirements.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping through documentation, compliance, and reporting systems.
- Lead site safety, environmental awareness, and community engagement initiatives.
You’ll also act as a liaison between stakeholders and ensure all regulatory standards and Sydney Water requirements are met.

What You Need to Succeed
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure or wastewater engineering.
- In-depth understanding of project lifecycle and delivery in a regulated environment.
- Experience with subcontractor procurement and performance monitoring.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools.
Mandatory Requirements:
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Experience managing HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) systems
- Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing communication skills
