Role Overview
This senior role is ideal for a candidate with a deep understanding of compliance frameworks in general insurance. You will lead Assurance Reviews, apply regulatory knowledge to real-world business operations, and generate insights from data to identify risk and opportunity.
Working within a highly regulated environment, your contribution will be key to ensuring the business meets its obligations under APRA, ASIC, and the General Insurance Code of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as Manager Compliance General Insurance, your duties will include:
- Leading end-to-end compliance assurance reviews, ensuring thorough investigation, documentation, and resolution.
- Identifying compliance gaps through data-driven insights and presenting practical, actionable solutions.
- Managing stakeholder engagement, including legal, audit, operations, and risk teams to ensure regulatory expectations are met.
- Applying your knowledge of Corporations Act, ASIC Regulatory Guides, and Insurance Contracts Act to align operational processes with compliance obligations.
- Developing reports and presenting findings to internal leadership and compliance teams.
- Researching legislative updates, assessing their operational impact, and updating relevant frameworks and processes.
- Modelling and promoting a culture of risk awareness and ethical behaviour across all departments.
Required Experience
To succeed in this role, candidates should bring:
- At least 3 years of experience in a Line 2 Compliance role, ideally within general insurance or broader financial services.
- Strong knowledge of compliance assurance or internal audit functions, with a demonstrated ability to run reviews independently.
- Experience working with legal frameworks including:
- ASIC Act
- Corporations Act & Regulations
- Insurance Contracts Act
- General Insurance Code of Practice
- APRA Prudential Standards
- Sound data literacy skills—ability to use compliance data to drive strategic insights.
- A degree or diploma in Law, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Economics.
Skills and Attributes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Confident in interpreting and applying legislation in a business context.
- Capable of building trusted relationships across business units and external stakeholders.
- Experience with risk and compliance management software tools.
