About the Role

As the Partner – Governance and Regulatory Engagement, you will be at the forefront of BOQ’s regulatory relationships and governance frameworks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Regulatory Engagement Strategies: Develop and implement strategies for engagement with key regulators such as AUSTRAC and the Australian Sanctions Office.
  • Overseeing Governance Frameworks: Manage the secretariat function for the Financial Crime Risk Committee, ensuring effective governance and compliance.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with departments including Legal, Risk, and frontline business units to ensure timely and effective regulatory responses.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice on regulatory expectations and compliance to senior leadership and stakeholders

About You

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong background in Financial Crime Compliance, ideally within the banking sector. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Business.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in regulatory compliance within the banking industry, with demonstrated knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and AUSTRAC expectations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to research and interpret law and regulation, staying informed of changing requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience in assisting, guiding, and influencing stakeholders including Senior Managers.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt and comprehend rapid digitisation and technology change in financial services.
